Today, Stacey and I celebrate six years of marriage. It has been a whirlwind to say the least.

So much has happened to us over the last few years, from buying our first home to having triplets. Our family literally doubled over night. Now the house is too small and we have had to adapt but we have made it work. It’s a cosy situation but we are just happy to have a roof over our heads.

It is also six years since I read Frankie her vows and gave her a ring. She started calling me Daddy from that day. Being a step parent brings it’s own challenges but I don’t class Frankie as a step daughter. She is my number one daughter and I love her as much as I do the triplets.

A marriage, as I have discovered, takes a lot of work. A lot of patience and tolerance is needed. We are lucky in the sense that we communicate and stay on top of any stresses we may be experiencing. We are both dedicated to improving our lives so having that commitment is the glue that holds us together at times.

We have been thrown into a highly stressful life since the arrival of the girls. My chronic pain condition has also driven me to deppresion at times and my wife has taken the reigns. We do what we can to support each other without resentment. I am lucky to have such a supportive wife, one who takes no nonsense from me. She’s a tough cookie.

So we will be celebrating with a take away and a movie which is about all we are allowed in lockdown but I’m sure we’ll make the most of it.
